What I learned when it comes to making your own website, it is best to follow the common conventions because after a certain amount of people see something for so long it becomes a norm. In Chapter 3 of ” Do not Make ME Think” it explains how you can be innovative but just don’t veer too far off from what people are used to like you wouldn’t come to play a game of basketball with a football but, you could have uniforms that no one else has and still make it your own style. Also, when making a website to catch people eyes it’s good to have pictures that has a relation to what the page is about. Last but not least you have to make your page look appealing you don’t want to have too big of paragraphs, so people won’t get scared to read the whole thing also, make it easy for them to skim through. Make sure all the links you have on your page stick out a little so people can notice that there is a link there because you don’t want people to miss the information that link has. A big thing in this chapter is that if something is important on your page make it easy to be seen at the end of the day the most helpful website will be the most successful. If your website looks professional people will take it more seriously than a sloppy website with everything all cluttered.
